Despite the recession and the fragile outlook for UK and European economies, with its continuing downward pressure on investment, jobs and company marketing budgets, one Gloucester graphic and web design company has been quietly bucking the trend by winning new business consistently for the past 12 months.

Back in January 2009 ICON.net Limted won a clutch of four new accounts all in competitive pitches, including the UKs leading manufacturer of bus and coach passenger seating South Wales company Cogent, and in March the company went live with a major e-commerce website on behalf of new client Halcyon Days the London based luxury goods manufacturer and triple royal warrant holder.

This was followed up by a further three wins in as many months, and over the summer the team at ICON was busy designing and building large new content managed high functionality websites on behalf of several local businesses and organisations including Twigworth based business services group Triangle Fusion, the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company, Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum and the Gloucestershire Association of Parish and Town Councils, as well as a site for the Rural Community Council of Essex and a site in Spanish for Coventry company, Metalock Engineering, who specialise in global mechanical repairs.

Also during last summer ICON was asked to devise and implement a range of new marketing support material for the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV), whose Patron is HRH The Prince of Wales and who are currently celebrating their centenary.

Over the autumn and winter, the company won its first web assignment from existing client GKN Wheels, and other new business including website and 22 microsites on behalf of Gloucestershire Music, website for publisher Pet Info Club which is about to go live and eight new sites with accompanying e-brochures as well as the design of new product catalogues for Linpac Environmental, part of the £bn turnover international plastic packaging and container group Linpac.

ICON continues to win business from both new as well as existing clients, and has just been newly appointed by the show and event fencing and seating specialists, Show Services Group, in addition to further web assignments targeted at the South African and French speaking markets for existing international engineering client Metalock.

Creative director James Chance sums it up, “Whilst there’s no getting away from the fact that the economic outlook is uncertain and is likely to remain difficult well into 2011, there is growing business confidence, as our remarkable track record over these past 12 months
shows. Naturally, we’re all hoping that we can maintain this momentum for the rest of 2010.”
