The excitement just never ends here at ICON.net. After an eventful and frantic few days, we’re finally in and up and running in the new offices. The team here are cracking on with their ongoing projects, so feel free to get in touch.

We’ve been excitedly but carefully checking the proofs with the same professional eye for detail that we apply to all our work. The format follows in the footsteps of the highly successful layout we first adopted two years ago and comprises five loose inserts enclosed within a pocket folder.

Each of the inserts is devoted to our key specialisations: design, branding and internet with additional inserts featuring a profile/introduction and our OTPS v5.0 content management system.

Ben, James, Nigel and Vicky were lucky enough to receive invitations to the opening of Maggie’s Cheltenham.

ICON have produced a lot of material for Maggie’s Cheltenham from leaflets, invitations and newsletters to promotional emails. On top of that Ben and Nigel even ‘jumped’ out of a plane and raised £2007.50 (Including GiftAid) for the charity!

The Duchess of Cornwall opened Maggie’s Cheltenham cancer care centre earlier in the day.

A Maggie’s Centre is a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer.

Under one roof people can access help with information, benefits advice, psychological support both individually and in groups, courses and stress reducing strategies. You don’t have to make an appointment, or be referred and everything they offer is free of charge.

One of the features at the forthcoming Shropshire County Show – to be held on June 26 & 27 – is a parachute display by The Red Devils, the official parachute display team of both the Parachute Regiment (The Paras) and the British Army.

Show sponsors – including our client GKN Wheels and AutoStructures – will be casting their eyes skywards to see their logo flags flying in all their glory attached to each of the Red Devils team.

And in a few weeks’ time it won’t be flags that will be flying with the Red Devils, but two of our colleagues – the intrepid Nigel Robinson and Ben Howard. Their skydiving exploits are to raise money on behalf of Maggies Cotswold Cancer Centre which is scheduled to open at Cheltenham hospital later this year. Happy landings guys!

ICON director Nigel Robinson and account director Geoffrey Ainsworth gave a joint presentation entitled ‘Building a Brand’ to the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) Centenary Young Valuers conference held at Magdalen College, Oxford on Friday, 8 January 2010.

The conference was one of a number of events being organised by CAAV in this its centenary year; the conference theme ‘Onwards and Upwards’ targeted all Valuers aged up to 35 and covered a variety of topics, including Nigel and Geoffrey’s slot which defined what a brand is, how brands pave the way to marketing success, the essentials in bulding brand values and the CAAV brand in action.

Forgive the pun but, to be honest, we just couldn’t resist it. It was one of those rare occasions when the opportunity was just too good to miss and, both literally as well as metaphorically, it’s absolutely true we have been snowed under.

Fortunately all the white slushy stuff has gone (for the time being at least – we’ve still got the rest of the winter to face) but, happily, our busy workload continues so apologies for the fact that this is our first post of 2010. But don’t worry. There’ll be plenty more.

New client Whitecroft Essentials has just appointed us to design and build a new interactive website on their behalf, and today that process got underway by a visit to their manufacturing plant and head office near Lydney.

Our creative media designer Ben Howard and account director Geoffrey Ainsworth were given an extensive factory tour to help give them valuable insight into the client’s products.

Whitecroft Essentials is a long established business supplying a wide range of stationery, haberdashery and craft products to the trade.

Our offices will close on Wednesday afternoon, 24th December and re-open at 9am on Friday, 2nd January 2009.

We are currently developing several other sites for both existing as well as new clients, two of which are expected to be live early in the new year with both featuring our versatile OTPS v5.0 content management system.
